The event is part of the ECHOES Community Events Series, a series of meetings for communities interested in the development of the Cultural Heritage Cloud. The Italian event is organised within the framework of <\/em>EMPOWER-CH \u2013 Empowering Museum Professionals with the Cultural Heritage Cloud<\/em><\/a><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The digital transformation of cultural heritage is no longer solely about digitising collections. Increasingly, it concerns how data, tools, expertise and resources can be shared and connected across institutions and professional communities. Within this context, the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH)<\/strong> is being developed as a shared European infrastructure to support new forms of data access, collaboration, research and service development for cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

The webinar offers an initial introduction to the Cultural Heritage Cloud and ECHOES<\/strong>, the European project supporting its development. It will explore the needs that prompted this initiative, how professional communities are helping to shape it, and the practical opportunities it could offer museums, institutions and cultural heritage professionals.<\/p>\n

Particular attention will be given to the Italian context<\/strong> and the relationship between national infrastructures and the emerging European ecosystem. Alongside ECHOES, the discussion will involve the Central Institute for the Digitisation of Cultural Heritage \u2013 Digital Library of the Italian Ministry of Culture<\/strong>. It will examine Italy\u2019s approach to managing and enhancing digital heritage, the role of national technological infrastructures, and prospects for interoperability at European level. Current discussions on these issues highlight the importance of understanding these infrastructures as parts of a broader system<\/strong>, rather than as isolated or competing platforms. Within this system, data and technologies are central, alongside the governance<\/em> of processes and cooperation between institutions.<\/p>\n

The event launches EMPOWER-CH \u2013 Empowering Museum Professionals with the Cultural Heritage Cloud<\/strong>, an initiative led by ICOM Italy<\/strong>, the Scuola nazionale del patrimonio e delle attivit\u00e0 culturali<\/strong> and AVICOM<\/strong>. Over the following months, the project will engage museums and cultural heritage professionals in discussions and focus groups to identify needs, expectations, challenges and potential use cases, drawing on Italian experience to contribute to the development of the future Cultural Heritage Cloud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
