First meeting of the new AVICOM Board of Directors
Several members of the Board of AVICOM moved to the ICOM offices on Prospero Street to attend the first meeting of the Board of AVICOM. The following were present: Simona Caraceni (regular member, Italy), Janos Tari (Secretary General, Hungary) Beatrice Sauvignet (Treasurer, France), Marie-Françoise Delval (co-opted member, France) and Manon Blanchette (President, Canada).
The minutes of this meeting will be published within a few days on the AVICOM website. I invite you to consult them and contact me with any comments. The Board of Directors will meet virtually and physically several times a year. Your collaboration will be sought as projects will be developed throughout the year.
Rio de Janeiro 2013
The organization of the AVICOM meeting in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil was raised, and so we should start thinking immediately of setting up several round tables. I appeal to all of you to suggest speakers, yourselves included, or other experts in image and sound in the museum domain. Keep in mind that the theme of the General Conference in 2013 is “Museums (memory + creativity = social change)”.
Montréal 2012
In addition, the AVICOM meeting will be held in Montreal in the fall of 2012. The chosen theme is The development of technologies and the emergence of new museology professions. I invite you to submit your research on this issue so that we can prepare an exciting meeting for everyone involved. It is on this occasion that the FIAMP festival will take off once again after a short break in 2011. Please keep in touch with us to know when you need to send your audio-visual and digital material. Check out our website regularly.
Your research on the AVICOM website
Finally, the AVICOM website should reflect your involvement. So that we can all benefit from each other, we invite you to send news concerning your research, publications or conferences on issues pertaining to AVICOM.
Manon Blanchette Ph.D.
